The mission of Nā Lei Na'auao - Alliance for Native Hawaiian Education is to establish, implement, and continuously strengthen models of education throughout the Hawaiian islands and beyond, which are community-designed and -controlled and reflect, respect and embrace 'ōlelo Hawai'i, 'ike Hawai'i and Hawaiian cultural values, philosophies and its practices. Currently, there are 34 public charter schools in the State of Hawai'i, 17 of which are Hawaiian-focused.  The NLN Alliance is a volunteer support group that is made up of these unique values-based 17 Hawaiian-focus public charter schools (HFPCS's), located on 4 major islands: Kaua'i island-Kanuikapono, Kawaikini, Ke Kula Niihau o Kekaha, Kula Aupuni Niihau A Kahelelani Aloha. O'ahu island-Hakipu'u Learning Center, Hālau Kū Māna, Ka Waihona o ka Na'auao, Kamaile Academy, Ke Kula 'o Samuel M. Kamakau, Mālama Honua. Moloka'i island-Kualapu'u. Hawai'i island-Ka 'Umeke Kā'eo, Kanu o ka 'Āina, Ke Ana La'ahana, Ke Kula 'o Nawahīokalaniopu'u 'iki, Kua o ka Lā, Waimea Middle School.
